The methodological recommendations highlight theoretical and practical issues of qualification and investigation of ill-treatment of prisoners of war and the civilian population. Elements of the criminal and forensic characteristics of this criminal offense are revealed. The peculiarities of the organization and tactics of investigators (detectives) during the investigation of cruel treatment of prisoners of war and civilians, including inspection, interrogation, identification and investigative experiments, are described. The possibilities of using special knowledge during the investigation of such crimes are revealed.
